An Ngo On Environmental Safety in Nigeria seeks Partnership

                                                           

     
''we have just been presented a certificate from the corporate Affairs commission in Nigeria, having being successful in meeting up  with processes and completion of requirements on Environmental Safety ,Standard and Awareness initiative (ESSAI). An NGO, that focuses on Awareness about disaster management and hazards'' its Nigeria coordinator has said.


 Mr Olusegun Ariyo, the  organization's  representative said with safety issues prevailing in the country , we are living in an environment where safety awareness is very low, talk less of standards. ''Builders are always involved in substandard material for economic gains, those willing to occupy such building are always the victims. Government responsibility of ensuring standard in every spheres of our lives is yet to meet up expectations of Nigerians.  He said Majority of our people fall victim of this calamity and what is the usual, once incident of such occurs, and when our government gets to such location, what they do is to sympertise rather than taking early response seriously and akin to precautionary method earlier to prevent our people from falling victim, it would rather take to commiseration with victims. Another trustee of the initiative, who happened to be a senior lecture in the department of urban and regional planning, Dr Agunloye believes this Non Governmental Organisation is poised to do more advocacy in that aspect to ''prevent'' before its occurrence. Hear him''There are other aspect of safety techniques in every part of our living live. for instance, government would enforce the rule that every body should follow our pedestrian bridges but the issues of safety is not something significant to them as observed, when you climb some of these bridges, you  will discover, some are weak, wear off and almost collapsing, some people will not know but that they never wanted to fall into government rules and regulation , they will now be left with no other option than climbing, voiding the dangers involved. government on its part are not in the know, the people in turn are battling with those dilemma, putting their lives on the line as well.  He said Environmental safety, standard awareness initiatives is ready to partner with any organisation that has some thing to do with safety, government departments both at local government, states and federal levels, private sectors.  According to him, international organisations and allied agencies who are willing can come together and make our environment safe for habitual living in Nigeria and all the world. putting the vulnerability aspect of our people into front burner.He said  At present, the initiative is partnering with the Nigeria Police and National Security and Civil Defense Corps to put up an awareness in that direction.
