‘’I was ordered  to pay the some of two hundred naira by one individual in the process of trying to park my vehicle in a particular location with  having some meters set back from the Nigeria police post to which I questioned. Thereafter, I was badly beaten in an unwholesome manner by men of the Nigeria police’’. This was contained in a press release by Mr. Adeoye Thomas, market trader, who told some selected journalist his ordeal with a policeman in mufti in the process of trying to park his vehicle and where he was accosted and asked to pay a likely some to which he queried its legality in the first place, and where fracas ensued there after.

Narrating his ordeal, Adeoye said he came in company of two of his colleagues to  super international mechanic spare part  in  katangua market in  Oke Odo with adjoining Abule egba  to  buy some spare in other for him to have his vehicle fixed, it was in that process he was instructed to pay the likely some by one individual. But after he discover he was not going to head to that instruction, the man, according to Adeoye on sighting his telephone on the dash board, quickly penetrated the other side of the window, just for him to have the possession of his phone with-which, it  was rebuffed at that process and where  its sparks up provocation on the part of the  man and who eventually came closer toward the direction of drivers sit where he Adeoye  was trying to control the vehicle and carve out a good position for it to be in an appropriate position and what, according to him,  he saw next, was  that the said man had tear gas his face. This, according to Adeoye was what made him lose his sight at that moment and where also he discovered that the man doing all this was actually a police man.

Adeoye said he could no longer sight anything at that moment and this was how the police man called on  one corporal Babangida to come for reinforcement and were able to over power him, hurl all kind of planks on them. He said when all these was going on, people where gathered  around us at the scene pleading, and from what he could hear from every of there discussion, it was one sergeant odeigha  every of the pointer was directed to and that  which  made him understand it was actually the man in question, requesting for such money by force. Although he admitted that it was in the time when sergeant odeigha was trying to pick his phone unjustly, and where he was trying to outsmart him in  the process  before ‘’he Adeoye mistakenly heat him on his eyes , according to him  was the more reason he was being dragged on the floor. Here him’ I could not sight anything there after, but I can hear every of their conversation and was able to understand all of what was said since it was the sergeant odeigha that held me on my wrist’’. Adeoye yelled’’ is this the way and manner our police should handle us in this country just for wanting to extort money from me by force? He queried.

Mr. Olabode, a former chairman of the market also told trumpet online reporter that what happened in the scenario was pathetic and that he actually came in the aftermath of all, and where he discovered  that the man , Mr. Adeoye was still held in there with broods all around him and that what he could do to salvage that situation at that time was for him to call the officer in charge of that police post, Asp Ogbonnaiya, according to he him, he said ‘’you know it was on a weekend that this happened, you cant expect their superior to be there but when a call was put through to her phone she responded and acted promptly that was when he Adeoye was released.

But in a swift reaction via phone conversation, the divisional police officer, Mr. Michael Obete told this reporter that it was true that the matter was brought to him and after which he directed that sergeant odeigha be incarcerated, according to him, he said it was after the events also that another pointer was brought to his notice that sergeant odeigha had brudes on his face to which he directed that he should be released on that not  for further treatment. When asked if the allegation of wanting to extort money was what brought all that transpired , he said from the account that was given, there was no such traces of such transaction but what was at his disposal as we speak was that its a case of stop and search where he sergeant odeigha narrated that it was when he Mr. Adeoye was trying to prove otherwise was the reason larger proportion of the market traders had to come to the rescue and in the process, he was beaten up. Although he said investigation is on going and that he was going to get to the root of the matter. Trumpet online reporter also meet with the new president and its secretary of there association to incorporate there own views on this said development, the president , prince James who spoke in an indigenous dialect  said the media should apply wisdom in the discharge of its duties and that what was done was unfair to all since the said person was actually there customer. He reiterated that the inspector general of police should prohibit police men from wearing mufti to specific location of this nature and that we all should now that we all needs each other. ‘’Police, here, plays vital role and whilst its customers and that it was a sad and unfortunate scenario that should not be allowed to happen again’’. To the amazement of all, there secretary, Mr. salaudeen mukaila told the gathering that it was true that the police extort money from any stationary cars which should not be in the first instance, and that which comes with force for that matter and that it must stop.
